Summary on Grant Application Form |
The synthesis, coordination chemistry and subsequent reactivity of transition metal complexes of chelating pnictogen boranes of the general formula BH3ER2-X-ER2 (E = N or P, X = linker group) will be studied. Complementary investigations will also be undertaken into new achiral and chiral ligand sets and their use in selected organic transformations such as the functionalisation of aryl chlorides, enantioselective Suzuki couplings and novel C-C bond-forming reactions via the 1,4-addition of boronic acids to a,b-unsaturated ketones or the 1,2-addition to aldehydes.
