Summary on Grant Application Form
SummaryDescribe the proposed research in about 200 words.Terahertz (THz) frequency radiation can be used for spectroscopy or imaging and interest in this new method of biomedical investigation has been growing in recent years. There already exisits a community with expertise in terahertz technology, and we are hosting a conference to encourage those workers and others to investigate biomedical applications. The First International Conference on Biomedical Imaging and Sensing Applications of THz Technology (BISAT2001) wilt be held in Leeds 29 November to 1 December 2001.We seek funding from EPSRC to be awarded in the form of bursaries to those attending First International Conference on Biomedical Imaging and Sensing Applications of THz Technology (BISAT2001) in Leeds. Bursaries for PhD students supported by EPSRC would cover registration and accommodation only, whilst those for PhD students supported by other means would cover registration, accommodation and travel. A fee reduction is sought for presenters of EPSRC supported work. Additionally we seek the air fare to bring the Honorary Chair of the conference to the UK from the
