Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed project will bring together those currently responsible for the security aspects of the EU-DataGrid project at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), with computer scientists with leading expertise in the analysis and modelling of security at Oxford University Computing Laboratory (OUCL). The project will contribute significantly to deliverables within WP7 of the DataGrid Project, but will also provide, through modelling and analysis, a theoretical basis for security issues within a Grid environment. Our aim in this project is to place the security architecture of the DataGrid onto more sound foundations. We will apply existing techniques to the setting of the DataGrid. We will also carry out more general research, using the DataGrid as a testbed, and with the aim of using these techniques to influence the development of the security architecture. The research will focus on three areas: capturing the security requirements; extending and applying protocol analysis techniques; and an analysis of authorisation and delegation.
