Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposal is for a network to support the activities of the UK Computing Research Committee (UKCRC). The UKCRC was set up in October 2000 to provide a coherent voice for the UK computing research community, and to provide an interface between the community and other bodies including the EPSRC. So far UKCRC has been concerned mainly with the international review of UK IT and CS research activities, so its main interaction has been with the EPSRC. Also UKCRC has made a submission to the quinquennial review (QR). In the medium term, UKCRC wishes to achieve much broader influence through links with professional societies, interaction with government and industry, and so on.The aim of the network is to support IKCRC in providing greater support to the research community, and in achieving greater influence, eg with government. It will function mainly by supporting communication and exchange of data via meetings and a web-site.
