The programme described in this summary is a two phase programme the final output of which is an HDTV format LCOS display with onboard interface cirou'ttry optimised to be compatible the efficient management of the compressed HDTV data formats (MPEG). MicroPix's sister company MicroVue (Dalgety Bay, Scotland) will manufacture this display for supply to the manufacturers of both front and rear projection display systems.The outputs of the first phase of the programme are: a test chip which will be used to verify the function of the pixel level design and addressing architecture; test displays, which will be used to verify that the required electro-optic performance achieved, by final display will meet the market requirement.
