Summary on Grant Application Form
Computer vision is concerned with many challenging problems a variety of mathematical forms. An example might be computing new views of a 3D scene given some existing veiws. This project aims to further develop a procedural framework that enables a wide class of problems to be solved with both high precision and a quantifiable level of accuracy. The approach will be characterised by its use of covariance information describing noise characteristics of the input data. It will build upon a core framework recently developed by the proposed visiting Fellow's group at the University of Adelaide, Australia, and published in IEEE patt. Analysis and Mach. Intell., 22,11,2000. The specific aim will be the generation of a novel means of incorporating additional constraint into thecore framework. This will have applications in a wide varitey of computer vision problems requiring high-accuracy and quantifiable estimation of parameters.
