Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal seeks a contribution towards the expenses of the 15th Biennial meeting of the Institute of Physics' Quantum Electronics & Photonics group, in particular in respect of its role in student training and the support of research. This conference is very well established as the premier UK national meeting for research in areas including; lasers, quantum and nonlinear optics, development of laser and optoelectronic materials and devices, through to applications of lasers in spectroscopy, communications, biology, medicine and industry. It provides an important forum for students and post doctoral researchers to interact with their peers, to present the results of their own research and to be active participants in the UK quantum electronics and photonics community. This year, the conference will incorporate EPSRC's Photonics 2001 meeting, giving students and post-docs the added benefit of attending a showcase of the current status of EPSRC-funded research in photonics.
