Summary on Grant Application Form
The dynamics of ionomers will be studied using the new technique of X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy. This data will then be related to results from conventional dynamic light scattering, X-ray scattering under flow, and rheology. Two new microrheology techniques (particle tracking and diffusing wave spectroscopy) will be used to study the linear rheology of ionomeric samples in the high frequency regime. We will examine the jamming transition of ionomer micelles and sticky reptation of random ionomers in the framework of modern theories of associating polymers.
