The aim of this project is to enable a simple and familiar C++ programming model for customising Filed-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) bases implementations. FPGAs have been widely used in academia and in industry, because they allow short design cycles, low development costs, in-sit upgrades and hardware customisation at run time. The purpose of the proposed project is to enable rapid production of efficient parameterisablf structures which can easily be adapted to a variety of requirements. The research will result in a framework for customising arithmetic designs consisting of a parameterised library of arithmetic modules and a mapping mechanism from a sequential program to a custom hardware architecture The investigation will include abstracting parameters for arithmetic modules, automating the optimization of parameters, and searching for solutions tc the general precision optimization problem.
