Summary on Grant Application Form
The Cambridge EDC is a research centre for the development, validation and dissemination of advanced design methods for technical and in particular, mechanical systems. Over its 10 year history the EDC has earned an international reputation for its generic research through its publications, software tools, presentations (many invited) at international conferences; through collaborations with industry; and through networking with other design research groups. The EDC's current research programme is divided into a number of themes, with a strong focus on mechanical, structural and systems design in the Aerospace, Healthcare, Product Design and Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sectors. The quality and breadth of the research has established the EDC as a centre of excellence in design research, recognised as such by industry and academia. This application is for a Platform Grant that will provide essential support for design research in the Engineering Design Centre through the partial funding of two senior research associates.
