Summary on Grant Application Form
It is proposed to run a Workshop on Modern Methods for Data Intensive Modelling of Nonlinear Dynamic Systems. The topic of the Workshop is empirical.semi-empirical methods for mathematical modelling of nonlinear systems. The topic encompasses fields including systems identification, neural/fuzzy methods and embedding theory and research from the disciplines including engineering, applied mathematical physics, statistics and computer science. The aim of the workshop is to bring together relevant research groups within the UK with a view to clarifying common interests, encouraging exploration of potential inter-disciplinary synergies and generally foster communication between disciplines and the strengthening of links between researchers. Possible longer term outcomes of the Workshop may include the formation of the UK Research Network to sustain interaction between disciplines and the publication of an edited book or special journal issue.
