Summary on Grant Application Form
A two-year programme of work is proposed that allows substantial interaction between Loughborough University and several centres in Japan. The topic of the proposed investigations centres on improving the understanding of grain boundaries in metals and ceramics. Reciprocal funding for the work has been agreed on the Japanese side through JSPS. This proposal seeks to secure funding on the UK side to allow several visits/short stays for experimental studies and workshop type discussions. This is set against a background of an existing EPSRC Network under whose initiative the original discussions relating to this proposal were formulated.
