Using a Cosserat model for cable-stayed bridges in interaction with variable wind and rain loadings, aero-elastic excitations of multiply connected slender elastic members will be explored. Using a novel approach to aero-vorticity simulation, the project aims to model the full non-linear dynamics of cable-stayed bridges in an optimally simple form, and to develop adapted numerical algorithms for more efficient simulation than has previously been possible.
