Summary on Grant Application Form
The project aims to interface the multidimensional separation technique of comprehensive or fully orthogonal gas chromatography with high repetition mass spectral acquisition from time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The developed system be unique, offering a combination of ultra high peak capacity chromatographic separation in combination with detailed structural and compositional information. The instrument will have application in areas where both targeted or global resolution of high complexity mixtures is required, such as petrochemicals, natural products, biological or environmental analyses. Transferable analytical methodologies will be developed for the proposed instrument in the highlighted areas. Software for multidimensional data capture and visualisation will also be developed as a core component of the project.
