Summary on Grant Application Form
This project seeks to open up a new area of catalyst preparation that has been previously overlooked, and the principal aim is to attempt to synthesise catalysts by controlled crystallisation at temperature between 400-700C. Materials based on the oxides and phosphates of V, Mo, Nb, Fe, Sb will be prepared in a stirred autoclave. The use of solvent free conditions will be explored. The redox behaviour of the materials will be probed using pulse experiments in a TAP II reactor with reducing agents to titrate the available oxygen. Promising materials will be examined for the oxidation of n-butane and CO in fixed bed continuous flow microreactors as well as by detailed characterisation using in situ Raman spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction.
