Summary on Grant Application Form
A network of academic and industry research partners will be established to stimulate basic and applied research in the general area of advanced computer technology for simulation and optimization of clean water and waste water systems. This is a rapidly expanding area of research of vital interest to the water industry in the UK and overseas. The initial network of 7 academic partners and 10 companies will expand to include other research active members, and aims to be self-financing by the end of the three year period.A part-time co-ordinator at Exeter will set up a web site for internal and external use, and create and maintain databases for membership and mailing lists for conferences and meetings. She will edit and circulate an electronic newsletter, and assist in the organisation of seminars and other activities undertaken by the network members.UKWIR will provide strong links to the UK water companies, and Cranfield University will set up and maintain an industry focussed web site aimed at suppliers of equipment and services to the water industry and to other utilities such as oil, gas, electricity and telecommunications.
