Panel History:
Summary on Grant Application Form
Instrumentation will be assembled to create compositional micro-libraries of ceramics which will be subjected to high speed measurements, initially to detect colour, high Tc superconductivity, resistivity, dielectric properties and potential catalysts. These measurements will be analysed using artificial neural networks to find local optima and, subsequently, to seek refinements in the searches leading to the discovery of new materials. The project will lead to refinement of the theoretical basis underlying these properties, new concepts in sample preparation and instrumentation. It heralds the beginning of a revolution in laboratory and time compression and in artificial management of materials discovery.
