Summary on Grant Application Form
We propose to purchase Quantum Design Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) with heat capacity option. This calorimeter is capable of carrying out measurements over a wide range of temperatures (400 mK to 300 K) in magnetic fields of up to 9 tesla. This state of the art instrument will be based in the Physics Department at the University of Warwick. The calorimeter will be used by chemists and physicists based at Warwick and at other institutions throughout the UK. It will be used to study a diverse range of magnetic and superconducting materials all of which are currently of great interest to the scientific community.
