Summary on Grant Application Form
In collaboration with the research group at Leicester, the external sponsor will develop a photoelectron microscope capable of full energy analysis with a spatial resolution of 20nm. The instrument will be used at third generation synchrotron sources for a study of the magnetic behaviour of nanoscale islands and deposited clusters as a function of their size and density on the surface. The changes in film morphology and magnetic behaviour induced by coating the clusters with another magnetic metal will be investigated. The instrument will also be used to image domains and study the process of domain formation in nanostructured films.
