The new simultaneous thermal analysis system with coupled mass spectrometer will be used in support of a wide range of projects in the areas of ceramic materials processing, novel rapid manufacturing methods, thick film metallisation and direct write of thick film circuits, synthetic Inorganic Materials Chemistry. In particular the equipment will be used to characterise novel functional materials and novel methods of fabricating components from CAD design files.To achieve these aims we will incorporate the instrument in a controlled atmosphere environment to allow the handling of moisture sensitive materials.
