Summary on Grant Application Form
Novel free radical reactions have been observed, featuring 5-endo-trig and 8-endo trig cyclisations. These reactions are respectively forbidden and highly unusual respectively. This proposal explores the scope of these reactions in an effort to understand why they occur. The project will explore regioselectivity. The effect of altering the radical chain carrier and of altering the nature of the attacking radical in giving an overview of these new classes of reactions.
