Summary on Grant Application Form
The Network will organise five meetings of members, to plan collaborations, joint funding submissions and publications, and organise visits by postgraduate students and PDRAs to institutes and facilities of collaborators, with the emphasis on training. Network meetings will also be a focus for discussion with industrial partners, to evaluate future needs and the role of University research within this framework. New partners will be introduced over the period. The Network will fund travel to Network meetings for postgraduate students and PDRAs. And will also fund five travel grants per year to enable students or PDRAs to attend overseas conferences.Discussions will be held with other groups in the UK working in related fields, including the role of extended defects in silicon, and point defects in other semiconductors. The Network will organise two Workshops in the UK, publicised through the IOP and Institute of Materials. These will be open to all interested parties, and will include invited overseas speakers. The Network will disseminate results via a Website, which will also benefit the student/PDRA community. The site will provide links to existing pages of partners in the Network, promote job vacancies, and provide other information eg schools lectures prepared by members.
