Summary on Grant Application Form
Dr. Barnes has received approval from UMIST to spend two months with the Custom Power group under Dr. Weinhold at Siemens' research centre in Erlangen during summer 2000. He will be undertaking research into active filter control. The work will be principally in the form of computer simulations of the power electronics system. The research builds on a research visit by Dr. Barnes to the research centre in 1999. In addition it is proposed that Dr. Barnes makes two visits to a main collaborator of the Siemens research group, the Ruhr University Bochum's power electronics group under Prof. Andreas Steimel, in order to foster closer collaborative links.
