Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of the network is to stimulate the development and exploitation of thermoplastic matrix composites in the UK. This will be achieved by bringing together the significant UK players from the academic community, materials supply industry and end-users. The powerful grouping which results will provide a neutral environment for information exchange between the interested sectors and will encourage technology transfer between researchers aligned with different sectors, eg aerospace, automotive and the process industries. One specific benefit will contribute to an industry-wide problem the pooling of materials data for process and performance modelling. The network will involve a series of technical meetings between the partners and draw in visiting experts where appropriate. A website and database of modeling information will be established for access by the participants. An open seminar is planned to raise the network profile and to disseminate arising information.
