Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed VF, Dr H K Christenson, would spend 9 months in the host's research group performing positronium annilhilation experiments designed to examine various aspects of the phase behaviour of fluids confined in porous material (mainly VYCOR). The fluids which we propose to investigate are some of those which have been previously by the VF using the SFA, which can be regarded as an ideal single pore. Comparing the results from VYCOR studies with SFA measurements will provide information about the effects of pore disorder and connectivity on the phase behaviour of a confined fluid. Specific experiments are listed in the objectives above. In addition, Dr Christenson will assist in setting up a recently acquired SFA.
