Summary on Grant Application Form
A century ago, I Schur discovered non-trivial central extensions of the symmetric group Sn. That is, the group Sn admits projective representations which cannot be reduced to linear ones. These representations over the complex field are now well understood. The q-analogues of these representations were recently introduced by A Jones and M Nazarov. The aim of the project is to study these q-analogues from the combinatorial viewpoint. We are also going to relate our q-analogues to the representation theory of p-adic groups.
