Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of this proposal is to provide funds to re-design the current Masters provision in Computational Modelling in Finite Elements as a distance learning set of modules. The training provides mathematicians, scientists and engineers with the knowledge and practice required to apply computational methods in an industrial context. The re-design will involve producing multimedia-based material for the modules and creating an Aula-Net based environment to support distance learning. The range of qualifications and training opportunities available will also be expanded to offer MRes, Certificate, Diploma, CPD units, etc. Once redesigned the course will become highly attractive to employed engineers and scientists, as well as 1 st year PhD students and Masters students from other courses in the University.
