Summary on Grant Application Form
The UK has pioneered the use of CFD and FEA techniques to solve industrial problems, techniques that have now become widespread and vital component of most manufacturing or process cycles. There are many commercial CFD/FEA software codes in the market that are readily accessible, robust, and designed for ease-of-use so that even SME-type manufacturers can now benefit from their use. However, graduate training cannot presently meet demand. The aim of the MTP is to train and equip engineering, science or mathematics graduates, with the skills required to understand, and use, CFD / FEA techniques in industry. Emphasis will be placed on multi-physics modelling, where interactions between disciplines are important. A steering group of industrialists will monitor the course content and method of delivery to ensure its relevance. In addition, Invited Lecturers will present contemporary topics. Modules will be designed for internet access, to attract part-time and overseas students.
