Summary on Grant Application Form
Biomedical signal processing increasingly underpins clinical diagnosis and clinical management yet, despite its growing importance, the subject is not adequately covered in existing training schemes. This package aims to satisfy the pressing need to fill this gap and is novel in that it bridges the multidisciplinary aspects of the subject by emphasising practical biomedical applications rather than the mathematical perspective. The ISVR is uniquely qualified to undertake this development in that it provides the NHS with specialist clinical services that utilise biomedical signal processing every day and is also at the forefront of the development of the underlying analysis techniques. The objective for the period of EPSRC funding is to develop the modules, establish the market and then to adapt the material to support distance learning to facilitate even wider access.
