Summary on Grant Application Form
A Masters degree course in molecular modelling is proposed, with a projected intake of around ten students per annum. The course is designed to provide Chemistry, Pharmacy and Materials Science graduates experience in computational/simulation problems of real interest to both industry and academia. It will cover the range of modelling techniques currently employed in the molecular sciences. The course will comprise of six taught modules plus a research project. Taught modules will consist of lectures, workshops and substantial hands-on experience in both running off-the-shelf software and in software/algorithm development. Assessment will be according to performance in marked workshop exercises and end-of-module written exams in approximately equal measure. The aim is to produce highly trained modelling graduates for the chemical industry.
