Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal seeks to enhance one of the most successful physical science based MSc courses in the UK - a course that has supplied 89 graduates to the nuclear and related industries over the last 7 years. Students on this course learn underpinning science while developing the vocational background required to establish themselves with a long term career in Radiation and Environmental Protection. Over the coming five years, we aim to enhance our already impressive links with industry, to establish an active CPD programme in collaboration with the NRPB, and to trial new methods for distance based learning while maintaining our excellence in teaching and research. There are significant graduate opportunities available in this field and we believe it to be essential for the long term health and safety of the UK to maintain a high level of activity in postgraduate training in this important field.
