Summary on Grant Application Form
The application of magnets to prosthetics could lead to far reaching benefits in health care, especially in orthodontics and orthopaedics. The proposed network will promote the scientific and commercial activity associated with the use of magnets in prosthetics in the UK. Through meetings and workshops, organised by the network, collaboration and joint activities between groups and companies will be encouraged. As magnetic prosthetic demonstrators emerge from the proposed EPSRC scientific programme, network partners will become involved in manufacture. Through the activities of the network, a UK pool of expertise will be developed and a forum for the design, development, manufacture and testing of magnetic prosthetics will established.
