The programme seeks to test the hypothesis that a range of low-grade zeolite materials can be synthesised by hydrothermal processing of the cement and brick-based components of demolition waste. Cement and brick are both of suitable chemical composition to be investigated as zeolite precursors. Low-grade zeolites produced from waste materials (from example zeolites A, P and sodalite) have potential applications in water treatment, barriers for waste containment and chemical-spill clean-up. In addition, the production of useful materials, such as zeolites, from demolition waste will provide further incentive for waste management companies to heed government directives to segregate and recycle demolition waste.EngProg\
