Summary on Grant Application Form
The purpose of setting up this Quantum Circuits Network is to encourage U.K. researchers working in quantum circuit physics and engineering to interact and to collaborate actively in the pursuit of quantum circuit technologies. The network will provide a proper forum in which researchers can meet regularly to exchange ideas and work together. It will be interdisciplinary in nature, involving experimental and theoretical physicists, electronic engineers and computer scientists and will act to promote interaction between academics, industrialists and government researchers working in the fast expanding field of quantum circuit physics. During the three years of the programme a number of collaborative activities will take place involving all the co-applicants and collaborators, any other interested parties from academia and industry and invited speakers. These activities will include at least six half-day seminar sessions on specific topics at the participating institutions, one one-day workshop per year with invited speakers, and extended visits of individual researchers between institutions. In addition, a dedicated Network Web site will be constructed as a showcase for the work of the Network members. This will provide contact and meeting information and links to other relevant sites, including those of the related Quantum Optics and Quantum Computing networks.
