Summary on Grant Application Form
Measures on infinite dimensional spaces, in particular spaces of paths, are a fundamental object in stochastic analysis. Stochastic processes can often be considered as vector fields on these spaces and for paths on Rn it is even true that the Ito integral is just the divergence of a special class of such vector fields. Recently this geometric approach has been pushed forward to lay the foundations for a geometric analysis on these infinite dimensional spaces. On the other hand from Topography and Mathematical Physics have come a wealth of results and conjectures concerning the topology of the underlying manifold and, usually formal, geometric analytic structures on infinite dimensional spaces of mappings into the manifold. This workshop is designed to make use of the conjunction of the Topology Symposium at Warwick with the International Congress on Mathematical Physics at Imperial College to investigate the relationships between these approaches and to further research in the analysis and geometry of these spaces and fields.
