Electrical systems are gradually replacing traditional technologies, such as pneumatic/hydraulic rams and cams/linkages, in all market sectors including the automotive and aerospace sectors. However, in many potential applications, they are exposed to a harsh thermal environment, which has a major impact on their electrical/electromagnetic design and ventilation/thermal management. The objective is to establish a controlled environment test facility to support fundamental research studies on such systems and in which to experimentally characterise demonstrator systems which embody research findings, in temperature environments which replicate real service conditions. The facility will be both flexible and re-configurable to support a diverse range of research activities.EngProg\
