Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed travel grant intends to disseminate of our recent research results concerning the uncertainty processing with a view to establishing an access to operational decision support data at selected industrial enterprises in Mexico and developing a longer-term research collaboration between the RTTS-Simulation and Modelling research group at the Nottingham Trent University and the Mexican Centre of the McLeod Institute of Simulation Sciences. It is expected that, on the scientific level, our two research groups will make significant progress in the area of q uantifying the various manifestations of uncertainty in the context of complex industrial systems. While maintaining the focus on water distribution systems, as a good representative of a class of systems with structural and information uncertainties, it is expected that the very different contexts, within which such systems operate in the UK and Mexico, will highlight complementary dimentions of uncertainty that could not be identified in either British or Mexican systems taken in isolation. The future collaborative research, that will be instigated by this travel grant, is therefore expected to generalise the Confidence Limits Analysis methodology, developed at NTU, and to contribute to the current scientific developments in the area of information granularity and possibilistic reasoning.
