Summary on Grant Application Form
We will synthesise new perfluoroalkylated phosphite, phosphinite and phosphonite ligands that can undergo orthopalladation. The new palladium complexes will be structurally related to non-perfluoralkylated analogues that we have previously synthesised that show the highest activities yet reported in the Suzuki, Stille and Heck reactions. The new orthopalladated perfluoralkyl substituted phosphite, phosphinite and phosphonite complex are expected not only to show comparable activity, but should also be amenable to recycling using fluorous biphasic separation. Such a recycling technique has not yet been reported for Heck type chemistry.
