Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposal focuses on the acquisition of an advanced laboratory simulation facility capable of operating continuously in real-time, to support on-going (and future) research programmes in a number of important areas within the Electrical Power and Energy Systems Group at Bath. The principal objective is to utilise this equipment, to its full potential, in the research and development of new techniques (such as protection and associated control) that would maintain a high quality and efficiency in generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power. The ultimate aim is to be able to, via this unique and powerful equipment, better design techniques through more extensive and rigorous testing/evaluation; this in turn will increase the level of confidence in the designed technques, thereby facilitating the further development of the techniques by the collaborating companies to meet commercial market requirements, concomitant with underpinning the power systems research at Bath.
