Summary on Grant Application Form
The application of cyclopentadienyl iron and related template units will be investigated as a new high yield method for the feneral and selective synthesis of a range of functionalised phosphorus macrocycles of both differing ring sizes and with a range of functions borne by the phosphorus atoms as well as the 'backbone' linking substituents. The ability to carry steric properties as well as the selective sequential incorporation of phosphine precursor units that cationic cyclopentadienyl based iron templates offers will be exploited so as to lead to rational syntheses of new classes of phosphorus macrocycles including chiral examples.
