Summary on Grant Application Form
Funding by the EPSRC is requested for travel/subsistence costs to enable soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy experiments to be carried out on beamline U3C at the National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) at Brookhaven Laboratory, USA.The environmental chamber, which has been built with 180k provided by Heriot-Watt University, will enable the collection of NEXAFS spectra in the ultra-soft X-ray region over a wide temperature (200-450K) and pressure (1-10-10mBar) range. The results yielded from the proposed research plan can be expected to significantly advance our understanding of the structural chemistry associated with molecular surfaces.
