|
The filling of moulds from a reservoir of liquid metal by the controlled rotation of the whole assembly is not new. However, it is also not easy. Since the development of the new concepts of surface turbulence and critical velocity, and the advent of powerful computers, and software, the time seems right for a fresh investigation to provide for the first time a proper understanding of the process and its problems.
