Summary on Grant Application Form
The primary aim of this proposal is to develop novel matrices, a further understanding of their mode of action and new methods of analysis for a diverse range of synthetic and natural polymers in collaboration with Scientific Analysis Instruments Limited. In order to attain this objective, the location of an MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer at the University of Reading is seen as the key requirement to the success of the proposed collaboration. MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry facilities in the Department of Chemistry will also have an enormously significant and beneficial impact on a diverse range of synthetic and biotechnological projects currently underway at the University of Reading, enabling the provision of high quality mass spectral data that is currently not attainable at present.
