The Rheolyst AR 1000N is a high precision controlled-stress rheometer with normal force capability. The principal requirements of the instrument, which will replace an obsolete rheometer, are to measure viscosity and first normal stress difference versus shear rate, and also apparent yield stress, for polymers, slurries, synthetic clays etc used in a wide-ranging programme of research into the flow of non-Newtonian liquids in pipes, annuli, sudden expansions, square ducts, mixing tanks, vortex chambers etc
