Summary on Grant Application Form
Open hypermedia is a key technology to assist users in navigating through multimedia information spaces containing both structured and unstructured information resources; distributed implementations aim to support this on a large, possibly global, scale. The incorporation of context into this model will enable more effective retrieval of more appropriate information, the improved targeting of the search enhancing scalability. The proposed project will provide a new hypermedia model to facilitate distributed information management on a large scale, together with architectures and agent protocols which implement this model, a demonstrator system and experience of its evaluation in the digital libraries context. The agents developed in project GR/K70360 will form a basis for the initial work, which will identify the spectrum linkbase and trailbase concepts of previous projects. User evaluations will commence early in the project; such trials will be important to the identification, effective implementation and application of contexts.
