Summary on Grant Application Form
This grant is to support a postdoc researcher for 24 months to exploit and improve newly discovered asymmetric catalytic methodology for the addition of organoaluminium reagents to alpha, beta-saturated Michael acceptors having only alkyl substituents. The scope of this reaction is to be extended to SN2' additions to allylic electrophiles and alpha-methylene beta-lactones. The utility of the methodology will be demonstrated by synthesis of asymmetric fragments commonly found in natural products.
