Summary on Grant Application Form
The aims of this research are: (1) to study protocols for information retrieval, dissemination and exchange via communication networks, in particular in the internet and multihop radio networks; (2) to design and analyse efficient and reliable algorithms for a distributed environment with components prone to failures. We would seek efficient and fault-tolerant algorithms for both specific important problems (like information retrieval by the internet, information exchange in radio networks, performing a number of independent tasks concurrently) and universal simulation mechanisms to cope with any patterns of failures in the course of general-purpose computations.
