|
The research will cover topics in statistical smoothing, in smoothing and other areas related to the interface with neural computing, and in stochastic geometry with possible applications to mathematical imaging. The VF will collaborate with Prof. Titterington on current research issues in neural computing, probably the particular topic of stacked density estimation. He will collaborate with Prof. Bowman on the Mathematical aspects of using smoothing techniques and matching measures to match pairs of camera images. He will collaborate with Dr. Molchanov on asymptotic theory of estimators in statistics of random sets, with emphasis on minimising their variances and with application to pixel-based image analysis.
