We will use our UHV scanning tunnelling microscope to develop the growth of magnetic nanowires and use the STM tip itself to carry out transport measurements on individual nanowires. We will also use the techniques we have developed, to study resistance perpendicular to the layers in multilayers, to investigate non-local effects on the transport in nanostructured layered materials.
