Summary on Grant Application Form
The objective is to develop an autonomous floating vessel that can remain on station using dynamic positioning (i.e. not moored) utilising renewable enrgy. The dynamic positioning would be referenced to a DGPS position and, with appropriate satellite communications, short excursions from the reference position to other prescribed positions could be made. Such vessels may be used in water of any depth, at small scale for oceanographic and meteorological measurements and in larger sizes for commercial purposes such as oil and gas exploration.
